How to Style a Console Table

Set the tone for your home with an entryway that authentically reflects your aesthetic...

The styling of your console table plays a significant role in establishing the flow and ambiance of your abode. While every home possesses its distinct character, there are several tried-and-true console table styling techniques our styling designer Caroline uses to bring personality and style to every corner of her space.

No.1: Choose a Focal Point:

Begin by selecting a focal point item that will serve as the centrepiece of your console table arrangement. This could be a striking clock, an elegant mirror, or a captivating piece of artwork. The focal point should instantly draw attention and set the tone for the entire space.

No.2: Add Height and Layers:

Incorporate elements that add visual interest and depth to the console table. Start by introducing items of varying heights, such as tall vases, sculptures, or decorative elements. Layering objects on the table creates dimension and makes the arrangement more dynamic. Additionally, stacking books vertically can elevate smaller items and add texture to your display.

No.3: Personalise:

Infuse the space with your personal touch by incorporating sentimental items that hold special meaning to you. This could include cherished prints, family photos, or unique objects that reflect your individual style and personality. These personal touches not only add warmth to the space but also make it feel more inviting and authentic.

No.4: Balance and Evaluate:

Step back and take a moment to evaluate the arrangement of your console table. Ensure that there is balance and harmony in the display by matching the scale of accessories on either side of the table. For example, if you have a large focal point item on one side, balance it out with a similarly sized object on the other side. Make any necessary adjustments to achieve cohesion and ensure that the overall arrangement feels well-balanced and visually pleasing.

But most importantly, ask yourself: does it bring you joy?
